Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tbsp ground coffee
- 1 tbsp fresh ground pepper
- 2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp sugar
- 4 strip steaks, about 1 1/2 inches thick
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the ground coffee, pepper, salt, garlic powder, chili powder, oregano, and sugar.
- Rub steaks with a generous amount of the spices.
- Cover and refrigerate for 1–4 hours.
- Heat grill to high.
- Remove the steaks from the refrigerator about 15 minutes before grilling to remove the chill from the meat.
- Grill steaks about 6–8 minutes per side for medium rare. The internal temperature of the steaks should be about 130–135°F (54–57°C).
- Remove steaks from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
- For a deeper coffee flavor, use freshly roasted, coarsely ground coffee beans.
- To prevent overcooking, use a meat thermometer to ensure the steaks reach your desired internal temperature.
- Leftover steaks can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and are delicious sliced thin in salads or sandwiches.
