Cheesy biscuits are super easy to make and take less than thirty minutes, from start to finish. Plus, they are loaded with tons of robust garlic flavor
Ingredients
For the Biscuits:
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup (180ml) milk
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 4 tablespoons (56g) unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup (85g) Havarti cheese, grated
For the Garlic Herb Butter:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
For the Biscuits:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. Set aside.
- In a small bowl, stir together the milk and lemon juice. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until the milk begins to curdle (this creates buttermilk).
- Add the melted butter to the buttermilk mixture and stir until combined.
- Gradually fold the buttermilk mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the grated Havarti cheese.
- Scoop ¼ cup portions of batter onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. For easier scooping, spray your measuring cup with non-stick cooking spray.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and firm to the touch.
For the Garlic Herb Butter:
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, minced garlic, and dried parsley.
- As soon as the biscuits come out of the oven, brush them generously with the garlic herb butter.
To Serve:
Serve the biscuits warm. They’re best enjoyed fresh from the oven.
Notes
Cheese Choice: If you prefer, you can use another mild, melty cheese like Monterey Jack or cheddar.
Storage: These biscuits are best eaten fresh. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container and reheat them in the oven or toaster oven for best results.
Adjusting Garlic Flavor: If you love garlic, feel free to double the garlic in the herb butter for extra flavor.
