Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

Ingredients
  • ½ cup instant oatmeal (use gluten-free oats if necessary)
  • 1 cup water
  • Pinch of salt
  • ¼ cup milk of choice
  • 3 tbsp. apple sauce
  • 1 tbsp. honey (substitute for maple syrup if vegan)
  • 1 tbsp. maple syrup
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup chopped almonds
  • ½ apple, sliced
  • Drizzle of honey
Instructions
  1. Place oats, water and pinch of salt in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a boil, reduce to low heat and simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add milk, apple sauce, honey, maple syrup, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Cook, stirring occasionally for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Pour oatmeal into serving bowl. Add sliced apple and almonds.
  5. Drizzle honey and serve hot.
