With these days being shorter and cooler, they’re calling for a warm cup of hot cocoa. The holidays over, it’s time we take time to relax.
I don’t know about you, but Hot Cocoa is definitely a winter staple for me. There’s something so cozy about a warm cup of Hot Cocoa that makes even the craziest of days seem alright. Now I’ve never made homemade Hot Cocoa. I’ve always gotten it from the store but recently we’ve been trying some homemade Hot Cocoa around here and it’s delicious. My husband says it’s the BEST ever. And he’s a hard judge if you ask me. Have you ever made your own hot cocoa? If you haven’t, it is a must! It will be love at first cup!
It takes a little more time that your average packet of hot cocoa. But it is well worth it. Anything chocolate is a favorite it our home. As soon as anything chocolate comes through our door, it’s bound to be gone in less than 48 hours. Sometimes less than 24…but let’s not go there. We’re always working on our sweet teeth.
Let’s get to this delicious hot cocoa recipe! All you need is cocoa powder, sugar, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extra, and a tiny pinch of salt. In a medium pot over medium heat, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and milk. Heat until everything is dissolved, stirring occasionally, about 6 minutes. Add heavy cream and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is well combined and heated, but not boiling (about 3-4 minutes). Then, remove from heat.
Your home will smell so cozy!!! Goodness, sometimes it’s simple things that make life sweet.
Now, pour into your favorite mugs. Add whip cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings or whatever toppings that you love. Break out your favorite blanket and snuggle close to your loved ones and sip on this creamy, chocolatey, hot cocoa!
Many warm wishes from my kitchen to yours!
