So Long Summer: Aperol Spritz

The bright and unique flavors of Aperol meet a refreshing prosecco to bring a piece of summer in Italy right to your glass.

So Long Summer: Aperol Spritz

Nothing says ‘summertime’ quite like an Aperol Spritz. This is one of my go-to summer drinks and you can usually catch me sitting out on my deck with a Spritz in hand. Aperol is an Italian liqueur which first became popular throughout Italy in the early 1920s. Bright and orange in color, Aperol boasts a unique flavor profile of brilliant, bittersweet flavors or herbs, roots and sweet oranges. With a low alcohol content (11%), Aperol serves as a perfect aperitif and spirit to sip on a sunny summer afternoon.
It wasn’t until the 1950s that the famous Aperol Spritz recipe was born however, it would take some time before this cocktail would gain popularity here in the US. From 2009-2011 the brand was strongly supported through international campaigns and the ready-to-serve Aperol Spritz was launched.

Today, the Spritz is widely popular among the cocktail community and finding its way in to the hands of consumers, aficionados and drinks enthusiasts alike and quite frankly, it just doesn’t feel like summer without one! So before we say arrivederci to summer, enjoy one (or three!) more Aperol Spritzes.
