The Lemon Drop Smoothie

Start your day with a bright lemon smoothie packed with protein that will get your digestion off on the right foot and keep you nourished until lunch.

The Lemon Drop Smoothie

This smoothie packs a slew of nutrition into one little drink and will keep you going until lunch time rolls around. Greek yogurt, such as Chobani, has almost twice the protein, half the sodium and half the carbohydrates as a non-Greek yogurt, plus plenty of calcium, and helps maintain a healthy digestive system and boosts the immune system. The banana adds much needed potassium to maintain a normal blood pressure, fiber to help decrease the risk of heart disease and the few calories of fat it contains helps to block the absorption of cholesterol.

If you’ve read my post on Lemon Water you will remember all the benefits of adding it to your morning routine. Just know that it is a great fruit for dieters, reducing hunger cravings due to its pectin fiber, providing energy and aiding in the reduction of inflammation by removing uric acid from the joints.

The best part? This smoothie can be prepped in a container the night before and simply blend in the morning.

Linda Warren

Linda is a wife and mom with a background in marketing and exercise. She attributes her creativity and love of cooking to her mom and grandmother who were always willing to let her lend a hand in the kitchen. Linda currently resides in South Florida, where she raised two children with the help of her wonderful husband. She loves living in sunny Florida with its abundance of fresh fruits, vegetables and seafood that are available year round. Linda started her blog, 2 Cookin’ Mamas, with her daughter Christina after her grandson’s birth. Her daughter wanted to learn to cook healthy meals while still meeting the demands of work and baby. That provided the inspiration for the healthy, quick and easy meals on their blog. Of course, they sweetened it up with a few goodies too! When Linda is not in her kitchen she loves traveling, wine, reading, walking and yoga.
